A Walk in the Park: PARK(ing) Day 2010
Thanks to all those who came out to show their support for this year’s FTLA PARK(ing) Day installation this past Friday, September 17. For the second straight year, FTLA converted three metered parking spaces into a temporary park complete with sod, trees, flowers and grasses as part of the global PARK(ing) Day movement to call attention to the need for more green space in urban areas.
Mother Nature showed her pleasure by giving us an absolutely beautiful late summer day that provided the perfect backdrop for snacks, games and an ongoing living roof demonstration. Over the course of the day dozens of clients, friends and curious neighbors stopped by and we even attracted some media coverage. Missed us on WBAL-TV, WMAR ABC2 news or in The Sun? Check out the links to see what you missed.
A special thanks to Ian Boutin at Conservation Technology, Kirk Berry at Scapes General Contracting and Melissa Grimm with the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks for helping to make this year’s installation possible.
